My Memories on DVD, a division of Acclaim Technology, specialises in transferring photos, video and other sources of media to DVDs.
Our involvement with video all began in the 1980’s when we had difficulty finding a video camera to hire for our young children’s birthdays. Our solution was to start a business hiring video cameras and 'Dial- A –Camera' was born. Our copying business also commenced as we provided additional copies of weddings, birthdays and family occasions for our clients.
Soon business became aware of the power and cost effectiveness of using the SVHS video format for corporate videos (training, new product launches, communication). Video production was added to our range of services and soon became our mainline business. This of course included producing thousands of VHS copies.
For nearly 15 years Queensland Video Productions (QVP) operated in studios just above Photo Continental House in Kessels Road, McGregor producing thousands of corporate videos, television commercials and documentaries for both national and local businesses. Its client base included Government Departments (Education, Workplace Health & Safety, Corrective Services), Telstra, Woolworths, Caltex, Pradella Group, G James Glass, Palmer Tube Mills, Theiss and Aviation Australia to name just a few.
QVP was one of the first companies in Queensland to invest in non linear technology (computer based post production) in 1996. DVDs arrived around 2000, and Alan can still remember buying our first blank DVD discs for $45 each!
In 2002 the business was sold, but the duplication service has continued and is still providing an invaluable service to hundreds of Brisbane families every year saving their precious video memories to DVD together with old movie films, slides and photos. Plus we provide businesses and other organisations (schools, Government etc) with duplication services from a single copy to thousands.
